Tobacco, Day Lilies, and the Kids

The tobacco plants are back again.  They seed themselves and seem to come back each year.  It is most wonderful to see them, and the day lilies are as spectacular as ever.  The kids enjoyed a short play in the back yard.  It was extremely hot today!

The First Day of Week 4

Steve, Danny, and Kenny got all the rafters up and the first row of the plywood.  Great progress!!!  There's a better chance of rain tonight, so they covered the roof with a tarp.  I've attached a great picture of Steve's feet as he's marking the plywood for a chalk line with Kenny's assistance.  If things go well they should have all the plywood on tomorrow.  Stay tuned.

Haircuts and Nini's First Time in the Pool

Everyone but Nini got haircuts today, then we had an opportunity to take advantage of the pool in the apartment complex.  Everyone had a blast, but Nini took to water like a fish.  It was her first time, but she was jumping in after about ten minutes.

Zach's Last Day in Day Care

Another milestone for Zach.  He starts summer camp with his brothers Kaz and Max next week.  He's very excited. but he'll miss Ms. Ramonda, Ms. Sarah, and Ms. Allison (pictured).  It'll be a little strange only taking Nini to daycare every morning.

Renovation--Week 3

Things are going great, and the new dormer is starting to take shape.  We've had a couple more small hiccups, but Steve and Jenny are fabulous and are working through them.  The new wall on the second floor will be part of the master bedroom, and it'll be so wonderful waking up under the juniper trees.  The weather has been good, but there may be some rain next week.  I'll take more pictures this weekend.

Renovation--Week 2 1/2

What can I say?  The dormer has been removed and they're ready to start framing in the second floor.  Steve and his guys are fabulous, and everything is moving along quite well.  We've had a few hiccups, but they're working through them.  It is pretty strange to walk up your stairs and see nothing but daylight and juniper trees.

Fun at the Fair

A summer Friday night fair just can't be beat!  Everyone had a great time and didn't want to leave.

Renovation--End of Week 2

The front porch just doesn't look the same.  It's extremely interesting to see how houses were made in the late 1910s.

Chris's Contributions to the House Renovation

Terri allowed me a few hours at the house today, so I took out the carpet and part of the trim in one of the front rooms.  It was a lot of fun, but it's damn hard work.  Here are some before and after pictures.  I hope to work on the other front room next weekend.  Lumber is delivered tomorrow, and if the weather cooperates they'll tear off the roof and start framing upstairs.

Renovation--Week 2

Things are progressing well, and Steve should be removing the roof early next week.  Temporary walls are in place on the second floor, and work has begun on the first floor front porch.  It is most exciting.

Sardines in a Can

A few pictures of the first floor of our town home.  We hope to be out of here in about two months.  It's a nice town home, but we miss our home.
