Terri allowed me a few hours at the house today, so I took out the carpet and part of the trim in one of the front rooms. It was a lot of fun, but it's damn hard work. Here are some before and after pictures. I hope to work on the other front room next weekend. Lumber is delivered tomorrow, and if the weather cooperates they'll tear off the roof and start framing upstairs.

Renovation--Week 2
Things are progressing well, and Steve should be removing the roof early next week. Temporary walls are in place on the second floor, and work has begun on the first floor front porch. It is most exciting.
Sardines in a Can
A few pictures of the first floor of our town home. We hope to be out of here in about two months. It's a nice town home, but we miss our home.

Our Wonderful Neighbors
We spent a few hours at the house today cleaning up the porch and washing some clothes. We were very happy to see our neighbors--Charlie, Simone, and Simon (their most friendly dog)--and the kids helped Simone plant and water some flowers.
Renovation Report: 7-11 May
Here's the first week's progress. Steve has started demolition upstairs, and he's working in the basement getting ready to replace the main beam and some floor joists on either side of the beam. We need to get a few things off the porch and hang a bit more plastic, but all-in-all we are pretty buttoned up. Things are moving quite well, and we're getting into a good routine at the townhome. Two more weeks of school, then Kaz, Max, and Zach start camp.

Renovation Begins
Here are some photographs of what the house looked like completely cleaned out. Well, almost. We didn't remove everything from the kitchen and the basement, but temporary plastic walls will keep the dust out. Anyway, our wonderful contractor, Steve, started this week and we're off and running! What a great time! Stay tuned for weekly updates.
